EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Lakeside High School principal clarified that a teacher was taken out of the classroom but not fired over an alleged threat he made to students.

Although termination was recommended for math teacher Jerry Meitin, he’s actually on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, Principal Juliet King said Monday in a letter to parents.

School officials had definitely said last week that Meitin was no longer employed by the district, but News 12 had uncovered late last week that he wasn’t actually fired

King’s letter Monday followed an attempted walkout by students on Friday in support of Meitin.
