RED HOOK — A FIVE-ALARM FIRE that tore through a Van Brunt Street warehouse complex last week has left artists and small businesses facing “complete destruction,” reports the Brooklyn Paper , with 475 through 499 Van Brunt St. under full vacate orders after roof and floor collapses.
Furniture store Lanoba Design lost its entire inventory, while the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition reported severe water damage to its galleries. Hot Wood Arts was reportedly destroyed. Hundreds of other tenants and exhibitors in the arts-focused complex were waiting to be allowed back into their spaces or to inspect their exhibited works.
