ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Most buildings have a purpose.

As this building at 422 South Clinton Ave in Rochester has endured, so too has its purpose.

You could say it's stitched in.

As in years past, the building holds in the sounds of sewing.

Unlike in years past, sight is not required.

“A lot of the work is done by feel,” said Destiny Diaz, who works with around 60 others with low to no vision at the Goodwill of the Finger Lakes sewing shop.

“A lot of friends I'd talk to who were legally blind or visually impaired would tell me, ‘Hey, try working for sewing,’ and I was like, ‘I don't know how to sew,’ and they said, ‘They teach you,’ so they taught me and I picked up on it pretty fast,” Diaz said.

Make no mistake, though, Goodwill does not mean bad product.
