In front of a crowd of supporters, independent Vancouver councillor Rebecca Bligh announced her intention to run for mayor in next year's municipal election with a new party called Vote Vancouver.
It's not a huge surprise—rumors have swirled around whether Bligh would seek the mayoral chair after she was kicked out of her former party, Mayor Ken Sim's ABC, earlier this year. That decision came after she didn't support the party's ban on supportive housing.
