ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Highland Brewing Company will host a series of free events Thursday through Sunday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene.

The weekend will begin Sept. 25 with "Heroes of Helene: Honoring Recovery and Resilience Together," a free event honoring first responders, healthcare workers and others who helped rebuild after the storm.

The Asheville Chamber, Explore Asheville and Highland Brewing are hosting the Thursday event in partnership with the city of Asheville and Buncombe County. The gathering will feature live music, local food, tributes and family activities.

Registered guests will receive a $10 meal ticket and $5 beer ticket while supplies last, courtesy of sponsors Novant Health and Hopscotch Primary Care.
