At its meeting on Wednesday, the Kenai City Council unanimously passed an ordinance to formally accept and appropriate a $7,000 grant from the State of Alaska for the Kenai Community Library.
The funds come from the FY 2026 Public Library Assistance Grant, awarded annually by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, Division of Library, Archives & Museums.
Library Director Katja Wolfe says the grant will be used to purchase new library materials.
“This is an annual grant… and we are planning on just adding that to our materials budget,” said Wolfe. “We’ll be purchasing materials throughout the rest of the year with this money.”
