CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 49-year-old Monongah woman accused of wrapping her belt around a random male's neck and trying to strangle him at an interstate rest area in Harrison County has pleaded guilty to a felony.

Barbara Anne Yanero entered a plea Monday to felony strangulation, according to Assistant Prosecutor Gina Renzelli, for Harrison Prosecutor Rachel Romano.

Renzelli and Harrison Defender Jordan Dishong will argue sentencing Oct. 21 before Harrison Chief Judge Christopher J. McCarthy. Yanero could face a prison term of 1 to 5 years.

Yanero has been unable to post bond since her arrest in September 2024, according to jail records, and would receive credit for over a year already served.

The crime occurred at the I-79 northbound rest area in Bridgeport, according to Bridge
