It was a good news-bad news night for the Welland Jr. Canadians when they hosted the Caledon Bombers in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Eastern Conference action.
While goals came in waves, with Jr. Canadians jumping out to a 3-0 lead midway through the second period in Sunday’s game, seemingly on the way to their first victory after starting the regular season with four losses.
The bad news for the home team? Caledon responded in rapid-fire fashion — three goals in less than four minutes, all on the power play — to force overtime and, eventually, netting the deciding market in a 4-3 victory 5:22 into the first overtime.
Caledon, which only had two wins over the 50-game regular season last year, improved to 2-3.
