FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died after being struck by a car while using a wheelchair in downtown Fort Wayne on Sunday evening .
The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of South Clinton and East Baker streets, near USPS, police say.
Officers say they arrived at the scene and found a man in a wheelchair in critical condition, who was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
The man was crossing Clinton Street when he was struck, FWPD says, and noted that it was raining heavily at the time. Police also say the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene to speak with officers.
On Monday, the coroner’s office identified the victim as 50-year-old Tyran Dwayne McMillian of Fort Wayne.
