FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 33-year-old Fort Wayne man was sentenced Monday in a deadly 2022 stabbing.
Kevin Harris, also known as Dregon Holt, was charged with murdering 48-year-old Terry Coleman at the Traveller’s Inn on East Washington Boulevard.
Last week, Harris was offered a plea agreement that allowed him to plead guilty but mentally ill to voluntary manslaughter in exchange for a 30-year prison sentence and the murder charge against him being dismissed.
Mental health concerns have surrounded the case, with Harris’s attorneys first filing a motion to determine his competency four months after the slaying. His competency to stand trial has shifted over the last three years, with judges initially finding him incompetent to stand trial, then later finding him competent.
