SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Western Massachusetts has been dealing with some dry conditions recently which has local fire departments concerned about the possibility of brush fires. However, we are expecting some rain this week.

“We’ve had a prolonged period of really no rain for a while especially say north of Deerfield a lot of folks in Franklin County are under a moderate drought situation which is two out of five on that scale right up along that Route 2 corridor, so we do have some pretty dry conditions across western Mass.” Said First Alert Meteorologist Liam Murphy.

We spoke with Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte who told us any wet weather helps when dealing with this type of dry conditions.
