Discovery Porcupine will start rehabilitating a historic mine working that will close the two westbound lanes of Algonquin Blvd.

“The work we are doing involves backfilling a historic mine working in advance of the Connecting Link construction work,” said Shellie Lacoste with Discovery Porcupine, an asset of parent company, Discovery Silver Corp.

Lacoste confirmed the mine in question is not the nearby Hollinger Mine to the south, which Discovery Silver Corp. acquired from Newmont Corporation April 16, 2025.

“The work is related to past operations at the Hollinger Mine dating back to the early to mid-1900s,” Lacoste wrote in response to an emailed question.
