A $5 million investment from the province aims to save and create forestry jobs in Northern Ontario.
The project will increase production capacity by 12 per cent, reduce wood waste by 25% per cent, and reduce emissions by 21%, overall increasing productivity and the effort to create more jobs.
“Today’s announcement is an essential step toward strengthening northern and rural communities across Ontario. We are helping to create good jobs, supporting the circular bioeconomy, and building a more sustainable and resilient future for our sector,” said Ian Dunn, R.P.F., President and CEO of the Ontario Forest Industries Association, in a news release.
