(FOX40.COM) — The California Museum announced the 2025 Día de los Muertos exhibit theme as Recuerdos Ilustrados, translated to "Illustrated Memories."

The exhibit is set to open at the museum's Día de los Muertos Fiesta on Oct. 11 and looks at the "journey through life, love and death," as it explores the Mexican tradition of honoring dead loved ones on Nov. 1-2.
This year’s exhibit will feature altars centered around the topic of immigration, created by printmaking artists Álvaro D. Márquez, Stephanie Mercado and Daniel Villa, officials with the museum said.
Sugar skulls, altars of the dead and offerings, which evolved from the Aztec culture to modern-day Mexico and California, will also be featured at the exhibit.
