MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — On Oct. 11, the City of Mobile is expected to hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event, allowing residents to get rid of items that can't go in the regular garbage pickup.

The event, which is being hosted by the city's Environmental Engineering Department, is free and will take place at the James Seals Community Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Since the first Hazardous Household Waste event in 2022, we have collected and discarded nearly 100 tons of hazardous waste that might have otherwise wound up on our roadsides or in local waterways,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. “Our Environmental Engineering team has grown these events into something that makes a positive impact on our ecosystem and the lives of Mobilians.”
