BARTONVILLE, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Limestone High School student was taken into custody after allegedly having a weapon at the school, the district announced Monday.

At approximately 1 p.m. Monday, officials at Limestone Community High School received a report of a person who possibly had a weapon in the school, said Superintendent Keith Brown in a post on the district's website.

"Within minutes of the initial report, a student was found to be in possession of a weapon and was immediately taken into custody. The school was put into a 'hold' throughout the investigation," he said.

Brown said the incident appeared to be "isolated," but that there will be enhanced safety measures starting Tuesday "out of an abundance of caution."
