GREENSBORO, N.C. — Another safety scare at a Triad school today. High Point police said a middle school boy brought an unloaded gun to Ferndale Middle.

Investigators said a weapon scanner detected the gun as the 13-year-old entered the building.

The teen was taken into custody and a juvenile petition was filed for felony possession of a stolen gun, among other charges. Police said the student never displayed the gun or made any threats.

This comes just days after three men allegedly fired shots and struck a Guilford County Schools bus carrying elementary students. The three appeared in court today, all getting $2 million bonds.
