DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person is under arrest after a dog was shot during an armed robbery on Sunday evening, the Durham County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
It happened just after 11:45 p.m. when two masked people approached two men on a front porch in the 2500 block of E. Club Boulevard. One of the robbers, who had a handgun, demanded a cell phone from one of the men.
After the phone was handed over, a dog belonging to one of the two men charged at the robbers and bit one of them on the leg. The other suspect then shot the dog before he and his accomplice ran away.
A short time later, two people matching the description of the robbers were spotted outside the Walmart on Glenn School Road.
When deputies approached them, one of the suspects tried to run but was caught by deputies.
