CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - A Charleston County jury convicted a North Charleston man prosecutors say was hired by a prison inmate to kill a man in 2020, the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office said.

Quinton Anthony Taylor was sentenced to life in prison by Judge Bryan Doby on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, solicitor’s spokesperson Ashley Kay said.

The jury returned the verdict on Friday afternoon after a weeklong trial, she said.

“We appreciate the jury’s swift verdict and the judge’s strong sentence in this case,” Managing Assistant Solicitor Daniel Cooper said.

The charges stem from the May 6, 2020, shooting of De’Andre Rivers.
