MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A man is facing a slew of charges after a deputy from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said he locked a person inside a camper, doused it and himself in gasoline and set it on fire. The same man is also accused of stealing his mother’s purse and trying to take her car.

It happened on Sept. 21, according to an affidavit for James Howard Williams, the suspect. In the affidavit, the responding deputy said he was called out to 113 and 121 Brandy Hill Lane because a woman had been screaming and a man, Williams, had broken into a house.

The affidavit said Williams had gotten into a fight with the person he shared a camper with. As the fight escalated, the court records said, Williams screwed the camper’s door shut, covered the camper’s floor and himself in gasol
