DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) - A Courtland man has been convicted of trafficking drugs into the City of Decatur, according to the Morgan County District Attorney's Office.
On Friday, 33-year-old Jyasiel Devante Hampton was convicted by a grand jury for trafficking more than 500 grams of methamphetamines. The members of the jury deliberated for half an hour.
Hampton, who the DA's office said was also known as Game, was arrested in March 2022 after setting up a meeting to sell the drugs for $5,000 in cash. The DA's office said that Hampton was unaware at the time that he was talking to members of the North Alabama Drug Task Force/Strategic Counterdrug Team.
Testimony at trial revealed that the drugs were brought into the City of Decatur from Leighton in Colbert County.
