An officer critically injured in a shooting in York County where three officers were also killed is now out of critical condition, police said on Monday.

Lt. David Godfrey, a 24-year- veteran of the York County Sheriffs Office, was assisting the Northern York County Regional Police Department as they carried out a warrant for a home in North Cordorus on Sept. 17, 2025, when the suspect, 24-year-old Matthew James Ruth, opened fire on the officers, leaving him critically injured.

Now, Godfrey is in satisfactory condition and on the road to recovery, the sheriffs office said in a Facebook post .
