ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An inmate died at the DeKalb County Jail over the weekend, the sheriff’s office announced Monday.

Larynz Redd, 27, of Decatur, was found unresponsive in the jail on Saturday morning. On-site medical staffers and DeKalb EMS tried to revive Redd, but he was pronounced dead.

He’s the seventh inmate to die in the custody of the sheriff’s office this year, deputies said.

Redd had been in custody since May 2024. Jail records show he was booked on charges of attempted armed robbery, theft and failure to appear for a fingerprintable charge.

His cause of death is under investigation. There are no signs of foul play, deputies said.
