Pacific Opera Victoria promises its 2025/26 season will be one of thrills, passion and timeless legends.
Among Canada's most influential opera companies, it announced three operas coming to Royal Theatre: Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in October; Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca in February 2026; and Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orpheus & Eurydice in April 2026.
Psychological thriller The Turn of the Screw follows a young governess who is convinced the children in her care are becoming corrupted by ghosts haunting the house. "The opera masterfully weaves melodic vocal lines with alternating themes and keys, mirroring the tightening 'screw' of the story," said artistic director Brenna Corner. "You’ll be left questioning: are there truly ghosts, or is it all in her mind?"
