The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Monday issued “new, clear” recommendations on which medical organizations state doctors and residents should consult for vaccine guidance, breaking from federal vaccine guidelines announced last week.

The state Department of Health’s “evidence-based vaccine guidance” is being offered so that “providers, insurers, and public health systems work together, keeping vaccines accessible, and protecting the health of Pennsylvanians and their communities,” according to a news release from the governor’s office.

It’s the latest proactive move from the state related to vaccinations, following last week’s announcement that Pennsylvania had joined the new Northeast Public Health Collaborative.
