AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Families with loved ones buried at Bellevue Memorial Gardens are speaking out, advocating for change at the cemetery they say has fallen into disrepair.

Neighbors say the cemetery has faced significant maintenance issues since the owner died four years ago.

Overgrown grass, delayed headstone installations and damaged gravesites have left many feeling hurt.

One of those families is the Messex family.

William Messex, a disabled veteran, passed away unexpectedly seven months ago. His wife, Andrea Messex, said they chose Bellevue because of its large military section as a way to honor his service.
