BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Brooklyn mom of two says she is at her breaking point, caught between caring for her children and her 90-year-old grandmother, who is battling Alzheimer’s.
At the same time, she is living in a NYCHA apartment with water damage and mold.
Shaquaysha Rembert invited PIX11’s Monica Morales into her home at Lafayette Gardens in Bed-Stuy.
Rembert is asking for a transfer to a three-bedroom apartment at Bay View Houses. She says moving would allow her to better care for her grandmother and her children.
NYCHA tells PIX11, "NYCHA staff will coordinate scheduling for the necessary apartment repairs with the resident as soon as possible and will additionally explain the transfer process and go over available options."
