PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Louisiana state lawmakers could potentially head back to Baton Rouge for a special session on the state’s congressional maps. The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear re-arguments in the case Louisiana v. Callais , in which non-Black voters questioned the constitutionality of who represents the Pelican State in Congress.

In August, the Louisiana Illuminator reported that State House Speaker Phillip Devillier requested lawmakers to adjust their schedule between October 23 and November 13 . This aims to coincide with the U.S. Supreme Court’s hearings in Louisiana v. Callais.
