MCRAE, Ark. — A McRae man has been convicted of animal cruelty and other charges following a string of incidents involving neighborhood pets.
Jack Moore, 57, was found guilty last week on eight charges, including a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, and is now facing a pending felony charge in a separate case where another cat was allegedly thrown into the street and killed.
One of the victims, Tracy Koch, says her five-year-old cat Bella, a one-eyed, declawed black cat, disappeared in early May. Koch believes her pet was trapped and killed by Moore.
“She was trapped and I believe killed,” Koch said. “He says she was dumped and I went to where he said he dumped her, and I did not find her or any cats.”
Koch says Bella was gentle and never a nuisance to anyone in the neighborhood.
