OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — An 18-year-old has been charged with rape after allegedly being found with a runaway 13-year-old in Ogden.

Matthew Nicholas McCarty, 18, has been charged with rape of a child and object rape of a child, both first-degree felonies.

On Sept. 20, McCarty was allegedly located with a 13-year-old victim who had run away. The Weber County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) stopped McCarty and brought him in for an interview about the victim. During the interview, McCarty allegedly admitted to sexually abusing the minor that day. The Ogden Police Department was then contacted to investigate the offense.
