BELVIDERE, Ill. (WREX) — The Belvidere School District is continuing to pick up the pieces following a storm across the area in August.
The storm caused damage to their schools, with both Belvidere High School and Meehan Elementary having roof damage. It also damaged soccer goals, field goal posts, a dugout, and other areas of athletic fields.
Just last week, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a Disaster Declaration for Boone County, something the district hopes could help with the estimated cost of damage.
"Really emergency management reaches out to us. We work directly through them. They've been great. I know they've supported so many people in the community," Belvidere School District Superintendent, Cassandra Schug said. "This isn't going to be an additional burden on our tax
