The Soldotna City Council has approved a budget amendment to cover added expenses tied to a new labor contract with police department employees.

On Sept. 10, 2025, the council enacted Ordinance 2025-026, which increases the city’s General Fund revenues and appropriations by $71,109. The adjustment accounts for costs associated with a newly ratified collective bargaining agreement between the city and the Public Safety Employees Association (PSEA).

The agreement, covering members of the Soldotna Police Department bargaining unit, was ratified by union members on July 15 and formally approved by the council through Resolution 2025-029 on July 23.
