PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — With seven matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicking off in nearby Foxboro next year, the state of Rhode Island is trying to make the most of the international tournament.

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee created Ocean State 2026 back in June. The nonprofit will be working to make sure the state takes advantage of all the economic opportunities the World Cup will bring to New England.

Liz Tanner stepped down from her role as Rhode Island's Secretary of Commerce to lead the nonprofit. She joined 12 News at 4 to share more about Ocean State 2026.

You can watch the full interview with Tanner in the video above.
