WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A motorcyclist was injured Monday night after crashing head-on with a Warwick Fire rescue vehicle, according to police.

The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. on Diamond Hill Road near Larchmont Drive.

Police said the motorcycle was driving north when the rider lost control while approaching a bend in the road. The motorcycle reportedly crossed the double yellow line and collided with Warwick Rescue 2, which was headed back to the fire station, located off Cowesett Road.

The rider was taken to the hospital by another rescue for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Warwick Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating, but initial evidence indicates speed was a factor, according to police.
