MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Officials in Mobile have given the all-clear in the downtown area after there were reports of an explosion Monday evening.

According to the Mobile Police Department, a woman at the Hampton Inn and Suites on Royal Street went to open an Amazon locker when the contents fell to the ground. She informed employees at the front desk that her package "exploded" and then left.

The front desk employees called 911 to report the incident. When the MPD and Mobile Fire and Rescue Department arrived, the woman was no longer in the building.

Officials say that two or three individuals "complained of eye irritation" but were not treated or sent to the hospital. The MFRD is not sure what the package contained, but whatever it was "must have left a burning sensation in the air."
