GALWAY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A solemn ceremony was held in Galway on Monday to honor veterans who have died by suicide. It was hosted by Alliance180, which aims to support veterans and first responders through equine therapy.
The ceremony was held on September 22 to raise awareness for the roughly 22 service members who die by suicide each day. American flags were placed in the ground around the farm's flagpole symbolizing both the lives lost and the hope that Alliance180 hopes to provide.
The group's executive director shared about the impact the program has on local veterans.
"The experience is very emotional. We have those that actually break down within the round pen after that experience," Exec. Dir. Denise Romeo said. "And it's like the light switch has come back on for them. They're
