QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The town of Queensbury held a public hearing Monday night on a potential water expansion. The town board approved a plan to establish the Jenkinsville Water District.

Currently, residents in Jenkinsville rely on well water, but chemicals were found by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation five years ago. Bottled water was offered to impacted homes.

The new plan will split the area into two zones.

"All properties in Zone 1 would be required to connect to the new Town of Queensbury water mains. This applies to about 88 properties. Properties in Zone 2 would not be required to connect but would have the option to do so. This applies to the remaining properties, about 88."
