A Hernández man faces a slew of criminal charges after police allege he battered a woman in the small Rio Arriba County community before driving to Santa Fe intoxicated and striking and injuring a bicyclist late Friday night.

Court records indicate the incident represents the fourth drunken-driving charge against 24-year-old Jorge Suarez-Huerta since 2020.

Suarez-Huerta faces 10 total criminal counts from several interactions with police over the course of Friday night and early Saturday morning. The charges include aggravated drunken driving, aggravated battery, leaving the scene of an accident, racing on highways and reckless driving resulting in great bodily injury, according to four different criminal complaints filed against him in magistrate courts in both Rio Arriba County and San
