Cuyahoga County and Cleveland have consistently neglected efforts to preserve the remarkable architecture in our region. Sadly, another important link to our area’s grand architectural past is about to be lost. The stunning Hilliard Road Bridge, withy its elegant arches spanning the Rocky River Valley, is slated for demolition (“ The olden arches: Generations served, but they’re going away ,” Aug. 28). In its place, a less-expensive flat bridge will be constructed. This decision represents a significant loss for the community and can only be described as a travesty.
