A 67-year-old man from Hawaii involved in a chaotic and deadly crash in San Francisco earlier this year while behind the wheel of Tesla he claimed accelerated on its own is now facing a slew of serious charges, according to multiple media reports.

The Jan. 19 crash occurred as Jia Lin Zheng came tearing off the Interstate 280 off-ramp to 6th Street in a Tesla Model Y, sideswiping three cars and picking up speed as he ran red lights at nearly 90 miles per hour toward downtown, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

In a police report, witnesses described the Tesla as a “black blur” and Zheng as a “madman.”
