Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield, a candidate for mayor, asked for and accepted tickets from Comerica Bank to a Sept. 12 Jeezy concert at the Fox Theatre—an apparent violation of city ethics rules, Detroit Free Press investigative columnist M.L. Elrick reports.

Sheffield told Elrick, through a campaign spokeswoman, that the bank “has, on occasion, offered me tickets to events they believed I might be interested in attending.” Jeezy, 47, also known as Jay Wayne Jenkins, is an Atlanta rapper.

Elrick reports that Sheffield’s spokeswoman, Brittni Brown, declined to say how many times the mayoral candidate has accepted tickets or how many she received for the Jeezy concert. According to his sources, Sheffield
