Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to the first official morning of fall with cool, refreshing conditions that still carry a touch of summer warmth.

As of 4:30 a.m., it was 66 degrees at Munn Avenue and South Orange Avenue in Newark’s West Ward, a slightly warmer start compared to Monday morning.

Despite autumn officially arriving Monday afternoon at 2:19 p.m., forecasters say today will bring above-normal temperatures, offering a summer-like feel for much of the day.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly sunny, with highs reaching near 83 degrees.

NWS meteorologist said there is a slight chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., followed by the possibility of isolated thunderstorms later in the evening
