MOUNT PLEASANT — Nothing keeps Menchie Foster from her yard. Not the heat, not the rain, not the snow. Possibly the mosquitoes, sometimes, but she thinks she’s found the right spray to keep them at bay.
She’s petite, often dressed in a tennis skirt and sports bra. She dons an umbrella hat to manage the rain or the sun. A headlamp helps her when the days are shorter and it’s too dark to see outside.
Many people decorate for Christmas or Halloween, but Foster decorates for all holidays and all seasons. Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, 4th of July — she decorates her whole yard with blooming bushes, flowers and store-bought decorations.
