It’s been 36 years since the West Boulevard community had a neighborhood grocery store.
On Saturday, the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition held a community mixer to celebrate progress in its quest to launch Three Sisters Market, a community-owned grocery cooperative.
Elliott Royal, executive director of the coalition, said designs have been submitted for the $15 million project, which could break ground early in 2026.
The market has also signed up nearly 500 “member-owners”—people who pay a one-time fee of $100 and will get to vote on who sits on the market’s board of directors.
