Syracuse, N.Y. – New York is poised to become only the third state in the nation to pass a law rejecting anonymous reports of child abuse in a move to cut false tips.

Under the new law, callers to the state hotline would be required to provide their name and contact information, which would remain confidential and could only be disclosed in rare cases if ordered by a judge.
