Azam Khan, a notable figure in the Samajwadi Party, was released from Sitapur jail on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, after serving almost two years. Khan, upon his release, conveyed profound gratitude towards his supporters, stating to ANI, 'Thanks to everyone. My blessings to all who supported me.'

Khan's incarceration was related to the Quality Bar land encroachment case, and he was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in May. Addressing speculations about potential alignment with the Bahujan Samaj Party, Khan clarified, 'This can be explained only by those who are making the speculations...I did not meet anyone in jail. I was not allowed to make a phone call...So, I have been completely out of touch for 5 years.'
