More than half of all full-time faculty at Conestoga College were offered a voluntary exit incentive package on Monday.
Of the 710 full-time faculty, librarians and counsellors currently employed at the college, 373 qualified to receive the package.
They will have until mid-October to review their offer, and anyone who accepts will officially leave their positions by Christmas.
“Due to the declining enrolment within our sector and specifically at Conestoga College that are the result, in part, of changes to Canada’s international work permit program, the college is in a period of significant restructuring, including program intake suspensions, program suspensions and ongoing staff reductions across all employee groups,” a memo sent out to faculty on Friday reads.
