The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently confirmed that nine million people would be eligible for a winter payment boost between £100 and £300.

However, you're not entitled to Winter Fuel Payment if you live in a care home from 23 June to 21 September 2025 and you receive Pension Credit, Universal Credit or income-related Employment and Support Allowance.

Age UK said: "If you live in a care home and you don’t receive one of these benefits, your Winter Fuel Payment is £100 if you are under 80, if you are aged 80 or older it is £150."

Those eligible and living in care homes will receive Winter Fuel Payments of £100, while people aged between 66 and 79 will get £200.

It is pensioners aged 80 and above who will receive the maximum amount of £300.
