LIHUE – Police responded to a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night on Hulemalu Road, just east of the Haiku Road intersection.

On Sunday at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 2015 white Nissan multi-purpose vehicle with four occupants was traveling eastbound on Hulemalu Road when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a large tree.

Two passengers sustained critical injuries and were transported to Wilcox Medical Center, where they remained in critical condition. The driver, a minor, and another passenger were treated for injuries and later released from Wilcox Medical Center.

In accordance with juvenile privacy laws, the identities of minors will not be disclosed.
