MOORHEAD — Work is happening in downtown Moorhead at a spot that for many years was home to a Muffler Man shop.

The city of Moorhead has a demolition permit on file for the property at 1335 Center Ave., though it is unclear from the paperwork what is planned for the site.

Requests for comment from the owner of the property, 1st Town Autos LLC, were not returned at the time this story was published.

1st Town Autos operates an existing dealership on First Avenue north in Moorhead.

The Muffler Man business was started in 1981 by Dennis Loock and his father, Vernon, along with Vernon Loock's cousin, James.

The business closed in late December 2023, when Dennis Loock retired.
